Fifteen Million Merits
Black Mirror is a science fiction television series in Britain. A variety of genres are explored in each episode, but the majority of them are speculative fiction dystopias set shortly with sci-fi technology. The Twilight Zone served as a model for the series.
The second episode of the first season of the British anthology series Black Mirror is called "Fifteenth Million Merits." Charlie Brooker, the series writer and showrunner, and his spouse Konnie Huq developed the script and were later directed by Euros Lyn. On December 11, 2011, Channel 4 broadcasted the first episode.
Bing shows his kindness by giving Abi the chance to participate in the talent contest and all of his good virtues in it. A capable and shy young woman gets conditioned under the pressure to turn into a porn star; she is often humiliated and misused. Hope seems naturalistic on the surface, but is much worse and full of lies. Wraith is just angry. Charity is willing, but not just empty and narcissistic.
According to Dan Harmon's story circle, the 1st stage is YOU. Here the protagonist Bing Madsen a black man got transfers of 12,000,000 Merits from his dead brother. To earn merits they should ride on exercise bikes. He had enough merits to skip the advertisements.
The 2nd stage is NEED, as Bing was surrounded by digital screens and longed for real connections. Nothing was real around him. When he listens to the song sung by a newcomer, Abi. He was astonished and encouraged her to participate in the Hot Shots.
In the 3rd stage, GO. Bing purchases the ticket for her and they are going to the audition. She entered and started to perform. Hope, Wraith and Charity were the judges. After attending the audition there is no way to reverse or get back.
The 4th stage is SEARCH. Bing was shocked by the result of Abi's audition and it resulted in hopelessness. When he was forced to see her performing sexual acts in his room, he breaks the screen by hitting them. And saved a small piece of the broken screen.
FIND is the 5th stage, in this specific episode there is no specific person or situation that gave him enlightenment or not guided by others.
TAKE is the 6th stage and here the protagonist Bing pays l the prize. Bing returns without her and has only a few merits left. Even he can't skip the ads. But he started working aggressively and bought a Hot Shots ticket for himself.
In the 7th stage, RETURN. He planned to give a speech and wanted to make an awareness of what was happening all around. He takes the piece of the sharp screen and hides it in his pants. Entered as an entertainer to the audition. He starts with performance and later hetreaters to kill himself with the glass if he didn't get space to speak up.
The last stage is CHANGE. In the end, Bing accepts the reality of his situation and got adopted. He is also like others and He gave his values. The bitter truth is there was no other choice for him and Abi.
